DJI ROMO 2 Launches in Europe with 36,000 Pa and LiDAR Arm
Verified on the evening of 3 September 2026. DJI has moved ROMO 2 from an IFA teaser into a full European product launch. The company published detailed specifications, European product materials and a dedicated Polish ROMO 2 page. The second generation combines a stronger cleaning system with a wider LiDAR-guided edge arm, improved threshold handling and a much more explicit privacy story.
What is launching
The range includes at least the ROMO P2 and ROMO A2. P2 retains the distinctive partially transparent design, while A2 uses a more conventional shell. DJI quotes up to 36,000 Pa of suction on carpet. Pa figures are not a cross-brand cleaning benchmark: brush design, airflow, sealing and test method all matter. The useful signal is that ROMO 2 is positioned directly against current flagship robot vacuums rather than as a side project from a drone company.
The most distinctive hardware change is the wide-swing cleaning arm. DJI specifies up to 123 degrees of movement, extra reach beyond the body and deeper access beneath overhanging furniture. The arm has its own LiDAR guidance. That matters more than another suction record because edge and furniture geometry remain a real limitation for circular robots.
Perception and threshold handling
DJI is extending perception technology derived from its aerial products. ROMO 2 combines depth sensing, cameras and LiDAR, and the company says the system can identify very thin floor obstacles, including cable examples around 2 mm. This is a manufacturer claim, not a RoboMorrow hands-on result.
The chassis is also advertised for a single step of up to 4 cm and a two-stage obstacle totalling up to 8.5 cm. In practice, threshold performance depends on edge shape, traction, surface and approach angle, so the maximum figure should not be read as a guarantee for every 8.5 cm transition.
Dock: less dirty maintenance, not zero maintenance
DJI's new dock uses water up to 80°C for mop-system cleaning and drying up to 60°C. The company also advertises up to 365 days without manually cleaning selected washboard components under specified conditions. That does not mean one year with no ownership maintenance. Tanks, bags, brushes, filters, hair and consumables still exist; the claim is about reducing one particularly unpleasant maintenance task.
Privacy: Local Data Mode matters, but it is not a day-one feature
The strategic feature is Local Data Mode. DJI says it will allow local processing without uploading video or map data and give users stronger camera/microphone control. The important caveat is timing: DJI schedules the feature for Q4 2026. It should not be described as fully available on every European ROMO 2 from launch day.
DJI also points to a TÜV SÜD penetration test of ROMO P2 and DJI Home. Its published summary says no critical, high or medium findings were identified and low-level issues were addressed. That is more concrete than a generic privacy slogan, but it is not a permanent guarantee of security throughout the product lifecycle.

These are DJI's official European “from” prices. Local stores, configurations and launch promotions may differ. RoboMorrow does not mechanically convert them into PLN; a Polish price will be added only when an official local offer is confirmed.
Why it matters
DJI brings unusually deep expertise in spatial perception, stabilisation and autonomous motion. ROMO 2 tests whether that expertise transfers into a mature home-cleaning market where rivals already have years of experience with service, consumables and messy real homes. The key question is not whether 36,000 Pa wins a specification table; it is whether ROMO 2 remains reliable around cables, liquids, thresholds, carpets and a dirty dock for months.
RoboMorrow view: this is a proper European launch and merits a standalone story, not just an IFA Live Desk note. The next three checkpoints are Polish pricing, activation of Local Data Mode and independent tests of threshold and arm performance. Manufacturer specifications remain claims until independently verified.
What to verify before buying
ROMO 2 should not be judged on suction alone. Before purchase, measure the hardest threshold in the home, check dock clearance, consumable pricing and whether camera features can be disabled without losing essential navigation. Polish availability of brushes, filters and dock parts will matter too. A sophisticated perception stack delivers little ownership value if a basic consumable takes weeks to import. Once Local Data Mode is released, the useful test will be which functions remain available offline and whether remote-control features require reconnecting the robot to DJI's cloud.
