OlloNi SS1 at IFA 2026: showcase, Kickstarter date pending

OlloBot is introducing OlloNi SS1 to European audiences at IFA 2026, but appearing at the show does not settle the buying questions. Its Kickstarter campaign still has no confirmed replacement launch date. A crucial timeline detail: the postponement was already described on August 28, so it is not a newly announced September 4 decision.

A European showcase is not a delivery commitment

OlloBot’s September 4 release covers OlloNi SS1’s European IFA debut and mentions the delayed crowdfunding campaign. The earlier August 28 announcement had already disclosed that delay. We therefore separate the demonstration date from funding and delivery schedules.

For a potential buyer, that distinction matters more than the word “launch”. Being able to see a robot on a stand does not establish when an individual customer will receive a working unit.

Companion robots need more than personality

OlloNi SS1 belongs to the companion-robot category. Here, asking whether a device can execute a command is not enough. What matters is whether household members still want to interact with it after the first week and whether maintaining it becomes another chore.

In our view, a useful future test should include interrupted conversations, multiple household members, background noise, a change of location and periods when nobody pays attention to the robot. An appealing reaction during a demonstration does not establish lasting value at home.

Camera and memory: ask specific privacy questions

The August announcement describes a physical camera shutter and removable RedHeart memory module. The manufacturer also claims local, encrypted processing. We do not read that as confirmation that every feature works offline or that no data ever leaves the device.

• What works without internet access? Ask for separate answers covering conversation, controls and remote services.
• How is history erased? Buyers need a clear deletion process before passing the robot to another person.
• Who controls access? Check multi-user permissions and how access can be revoked.
• What does the shutter cover? Physically covering a camera does not answer every question about microphones and data transmission.

What do we need before a buying verdict?

A revised campaign schedule, country-specific delivery terms, and documentation of features and services. Appearance alone is not a basis for a value-for-money score. We also make no promise that the robot improves mental health or replaces human contact.

Keep track of the exact SS1 designation. A similar name on another product is not enough to transfer its price, availability or specifications to the model covered here.
