This humanoid fits on your desk. AI Wukong promises walking, dancing and your own code

It is 24.5 cm tall, has blue eyes and comes with legs intended to do more than decorate a desk. UBTECH’s AI Wukong is advertised as a walking, dancing humanoid that reacts to visual input and performs behaviors you program. Its Kickstarter launch is planned for October 2026, with a reserved reward from about €445. The idea is appealing; the reservation terms deserve equal attention.

Why this little humanoid is worth watching

The strongest idea is linking conversation to a physical body. A behavior becomes something you can observe rather than another line of text. For learning, that creates a useful feedback loop: build a sequence, watch the result, change it and try again.

The manufacturer lists 14 degrees of freedom, Blockly and MicroPython. Blockly provides a visual starting point; MicroPython offers text-based programming. Remote camera viewing and movement control, alongside visual recognition, are also advertised. These are manufacturer statements rather than capabilities tested by RoboMorrow.

About €445 for the reward; about €9 for a reservation

A $10 reservation is advertised as unlocking access to a $499 Super Early Bird reward. The public Super Early Bird tier is listed at $599. The Kickstarter pledge must be completed separately after launch. The company describes the deposit as refundable before launch. The reservation is not the price of the robot; we have not assumed it will be deducted from the later pledge.

For European readers, those figures are approximately €9, €445 and €535 respectively. These are rounded conversions at the ECB reference rate of 1 EUR = 1.1225 USD on 2 October 2026, not European retail prices. Shipping is calculated separately by destination. Taxes and import charges need checking before any purchase decision.

Shipping is planned for January 2027

The offer lists an October 2026 Kickstarter launch and fulfillment beginning in January 2027. At verification, the website still described the campaign as coming soon. We could not verify a live fundraising campaign or a specific launch day. January is the organizer’s planned fulfillment window, not a confirmed arrival date.

We also lack a confirmed shipping-country list for this offer, a complete AI service-cost schedule and a region-specific support commitment. Availability should therefore be described as a campaign announcement with reservations open, rather than ordinary in-stock retail.

A camera-specification inconsistency

The specification table and FAQ list a 5 MP camera, while another section on the same page describes a 13 MP autofocus camera. We cannot reconcile those claims. Camera resolution remains an inconsistent manufacturer specification pending clarification. Battery capacity likewise does not establish a measured runtime.

The consistent basic figures are 245 × 149 × 112 mm, approximately 720 g and 14 degrees of freedom. They show the scale of the device. They do not establish walking stability, durability after a fall or conversational reliability.

A new campaign, not the first appearance of Wukong

UBTECH’s 2025 report already mentions AI Wukong, and a companion app exists on Google Play. The current story is the announced Kickstarter offer and its terms. This is not evidence that the product concept has only just appeared, nor a basis for calling it the world’s first home humanoid.

RoboMorrow’s assessment

This is a strong editorial subject for people interested in approachable robotics and programmable companions. A useful independent test would follow the complete path from unboxing to a custom response to a command or visual input. That would reveal whether the development tools encourage experimentation or mostly provide access to prepared routines.

Before recommending a purchase, we would want an unedited programming demonstration, clarified camera specifications, supported languages, service costs and shipping terms for the buyer’s country. A kung-fu routine attracts attention. Software and support determine whether the robot stays interesting.

Can you buy AI Wukong on Amazon?

As of 5 October 2026, we have not verified an exact-model offer on Amazon.pl, Amazon.de or Amazon.com. The current reservation terms are on the AI Wukong website. Other UBTECH robots and older Alpha Mini versions should not be treated as listings for this campaign.
