Start with narrower roles

XPENG is not beginning by claiming IRON will immediately take over arbitrary manual work. The company points to shopping-guide roles in its own stores. That is logical: the environment is controlled, the task can be constrained, and the robot can serve both a practical and demonstration function.

What “mass production” means

Formal mass production by the end of 2026 would be an important hardware milestone, but it does not automatically mean broad retail availability. In robotics, mass-producing the machine and scaling a reliable workflow are separate stages.

What to watch in 2027

• how many robots actually work in stores,
• how long they operate without intervention,
• whether XPENG publishes a price or leasing model,
• how safety is handled around customers,
• whether the platform expands beyond XPENG's own retail network.
