Serbia Starts Humanoid Robot Production as Minth and AGIBOT Target 20,000 Units a Year
Serbia has suddenly become one of the most interesting points on Europe’s humanoid map. Minth Group and China’s AGIBOT have opened a line in Šabac that Serbia’s development agency describes as the start of Europe’s first mass production of humanoid robots. The first phase is a €20 million investment, while the broader plan includes a €200 million robotics industrial park in Inđija and eventual capacity for up to 20,000 humanoids and robotic dogs per year.
The story is significant, but three layers need to remain separate: what happened today, what the partners expect in the initial phase, and what is still a long-term target. The Serbian government explicitly says an assembly line has now opened and that the first robot produced at the facility received a serial number. President Aleksandar Vučić said he hopes more than 5,000 robots will initially be assembled annually. The 20,000-unit number applies only after the broader project is completed.
What actually opened in Šabac
Official Serbian sources confirm today’s ceremony at the Minth Metal Parts Majur plant. The project combines Minth’s established industrial base with AGIBOT technology in humanoid robotics, AI and robotic systems. Importantly, the government describes the current operation as an assembly line for the production of humanoid robots. We still do not know the local-content ratio, which components will be manufactured in Serbia, or how much of the bill of materials will continue to arrive from China.

“Europe’s first mass production” is an organizer claim
The Development Agency of Serbia uses the phrase “Europe’s first mass production of humanoid robots.” RoboMorrow is not treating that wording as an independently audited continental record. Definitions of mass production, assembly, humanoid platforms and European manufacturing differ across a very young industry. The safer conclusion is still substantial: Minth and AGIBOT have moved beyond a trade-show announcement and formally started an industrial humanoid assembly/production program in Serbia.
Official event photography shows a humanoid at the facility, and government sources describe the site as a production, development and testing environment. That is meaningfully different from a prototype demonstration. However, no public model mix, unit economics, customer order book or ramp schedule has been disclosed.
Why AGIBOT matters more than the address
AGIBOT is already one of the volume leaders in the emerging humanoid market, although H1 2026 trackers disagree on the precise shipment count and methodology. That makes Minth’s European base strategically interesting: it could shorten the route between Chinese hardware production and European customers while adding a local location for integration, service and validation.
It also follows AGIBOT’s push into real-world service environments. Days ago, AGIBOT and Chimelong announced plans for an embodied-AI theme park and robot-enabled hotel services. Serbia adds the supply-side layer: deployment experiments on one side, and industrial capacity closer to Europe on the other.
What this means for Poland and the EU
Serbian assembly is not the same as EU manufacturing. Robots sold into the Union still need the relevant safety, radio, cybersecurity and other compliance work required for their configuration and use case. But geography matters operationally. A facility on the edge of the EU can potentially improve logistics, spare-parts flows, integrator training and response times for CEE projects.
The next evidence to watch is not the 20,000 headline. It is named customers, the models actually assembled in Šabac, monthly ramp numbers, local value-add, European service terms and reliability data from normal operation. Those metrics will tell us whether Serbia becomes a durable Physical AI manufacturing hub or mainly a regional assembly point.
