Agile ONE SN: the NVIDIA-powered humanoid built for research

Agile ONE SN is designed to shorten the journey from unpacking a humanoid to running an experiment. Agile Robots and NVIDIA introduced the compact research platform at GTC Berlin on 21 October, combining a robot, Jetson Thor compute and a preconfigured Isaac GR00T toolchain. Availability is scheduled for early 2027.

A research robot with an integrated software foundation

The central announcement is the combination of hardware and a workflow for developing skills. A research team is meant to receive a connected route from demonstration capture through data generation and simulation to training, deployment and testing on the robot. The aim is to reduce integration work before the actual experiment begins.

Agile ONE SN is a compact R&D platform. The full-size Agile ONE remains a separate robot aimed at industrial applications. The manufacturer envisages transferring skills and data between them, but that proposed route does not establish that every laboratory skill will work on a factory floor without further training and validation.

Specifications: 1.4 metres and 71 degrees of freedom

The figure of 71 includes fingers on both hands; it is not a count of 71 independent body axes. Payload is also only one part of manipulation performance. Arm position, object geometry, grasp and movement conditions matter when evaluating a task. Independent results from extended operating cycles are not available in the launch materials.

What is included, and what remains a plan?

Agile Robots says the platform will ship with GR00T 1.7, whole-body control and the open GR00T workflow. URDF and USD assets are intended to support use in Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab. That matters to laboratories comparing learning methods on shared hardware or incorporating selected tools into their existing stack.

The company also says it is exploring integration with NVIDIA Halos. This is not a statement that the complete humanoid has finished safety certification. Hardware, software, environment and the particular task still need to be assessed for a deployment.

Why this launch matters

Humanoid development needs repeatable experimental environments as well as new mechanical designs. If the promised integration reduces setup time, a laboratory can devote more resources to collecting data and evaluating results. Useful measures would include time to first operation, documentation coverage and the ability to reproduce an experiment.

Microduck from Pollen Robotics and Hugging Face addresses a related need to lower the entry barrier, although at a different hardware scale and for different tasks. Digit 5 illustrates a separate challenge: turning a developing platform into a repeatable industrial service.

For European buyers, Agile ONE SN is currently an announced research platform. A procurement decision still needs a quotation, SDK scope, support and service terms, and workspace requirements. The announcement does not make it an immediately available industrial worker or household assistant.
