“Wet-dry cleaner” does not mean every stick vacuum
This comparison concerns a device designed for wet and dry cleaning on approved flooring, such as the Roborock F25 family. It is not a comparison with every cordless vacuum or an upholstery extraction machine. Verify permitted surfaces and messes against the exact model’s instructions.
F25 variants differ in features including app access, detergent dispensing and assisted movement. The family name is not enough to assign the entire feature set to an entry-level version. When comparing prices, use complete model names and included accessories.
Where the robot adds the most value
A robot is a strong candidate when recurring light dirt across a large accessible area is the main problem. The benefit grows when you can prepare a consistent route, schedule cleaning and rarely intervene to free the machine. A dock reduces some handling, but someone must still inspect the equipment and floor.
Do not send a robot to any liquid spill simply because it has mop pads. Its instructions define permitted use; wet floors, sharp debris or unusual substances may be outside that scope. Mopping and vacuuming liquids are not interchangeable functions.

Check the weight when carrying it and the route to its storage position. Assisted movement across a floor does not make a machine easy to lift upstairs. Its tank and roller still need care after a short job, so include that time rather than comparing only minutes spent pushing.
A simple time comparison
For a week, record the type of mess, area, active cleaning minutes and equipment care afterwards. Illustrative example: four minutes preparing a robot plus five minutes of post-run care equals nine active minutes. Fifteen minutes of guided cleaning plus four minutes of equipment care equals 19. This shows how to calculate attendance; it is not a test result or a savings promise.
Also record tasks neither option completes. Furniture, stairs, edges or materials outside the approved scope may still need a separate tool. A machine that automates one large area can be useful without replacing every cleaning device in the home.
If whole-home maintenance dominates your routine, start by evaluating a robot. If local messes need prompt attention, demonstrate a wet-dry upright. Buying both makes sense only when they address different jobs you actually have, rather than duplicating work because each specification sheet looks impressive.

Children or pets do not automatically determine the choice. What lands on the floor and when you need a response matter more. Regular dry grit in the hallway and a fresh local kitchen mess can require different routines. Check permitted debris and liquids in the actual appliance manual.
What happens after the floor is clean?
A short wet-and-dry cleaning session is followed by care of the dirty-water tank, roller and storage area as directed by the manual. Self-cleaning is one part of that process; establish what the user still empties, washes and dries. A robot dock likewise has its own tray, tanks or plumbing and consumable parts.
Ask for a demonstration in reverse: what the appliance looks like after cleaning, which components come out and what must happen before storage. The difference between 15 minutes of active washing and five minutes of handling and maintenance can matter more than two suction figures measured in different systems.
Avoid buying twice for the same task
Give each category a defined role. For example, the robot maintains accessible floors during the week while the manually guided cleaner handles permitted local mess and work the robot leaves behind. If both would only do the same weekend kitchen pass, start with one.
Add a “work still left to do” column to your weekly log. A machine that saves time in the centre of the room but leaves a large share of your daily work may not be the best first purchase. Assess the needs covered, rather than the number of appliances owned.
