Farm robots in Europe: availability, demos and service

Farm robots are sold through European channels today, but a brand's presence does not prove that every model is available or supported in every country. AgXeed, FarmDroid and Naïo have distributor networks, while dairy automation suppliers provide regional installation and service. Before treating a machine as a purchasing option, connect the exact configuration, a delivery commitment, a relevant demonstration and the service organisation responsible for your farm.
A local route matters more than a global announcement
This guide uses Poland as a concrete example within Europe. Agrihandler lists AgXeed, Naïo and Pixelfarming Robotics; FarmDroid's distributor directory includes Farmsystems in Poland. Lely and DeLaval also maintain Polish product information. These are starting points for enquiries, not confirmation of stock, an appointment or coverage at a particular address. The same distinction applies when checking another European country.

Send a farm brief before asking for a price
Describe the operation you need to change. For field work, include crop, row spacing, individual field sizes, travel distances and the treatment calendar. Add soil conditions, slopes, headland space, access restrictions and existing implements. For a livestock building, provide a plan showing gates, thresholds, passage widths, floor construction and animal traffic. Suppliers can then identify incompatibilities before arranging an expensive demonstration.
Include your present operating costs: paid labour, fuel, contractors and rework. Record the owner's time separately. Say whether the main objective is a lower cash bill, easier recruitment, more timely work or less physically demanding attendance. A system may improve one of these without improving all four. That distinction should shape both the demonstration and the financial comparison.
Identify the exact machine and scope
A family name is not an adequate purchase specification. AgXeed's current manufacturer pages and some distributor materials use different generation labels, so the quotation should identify the model and supplied equipment. In a barn, “feeding robot” can mean a feed pusher such as Lely Juno or a mixing and delivery system such as Vector. A similar label does not make their functions interchangeable.
Ask for an itemised scope covering implements, charging, positioning corrections, subscriptions, installation and training. Establish which options are essential for the proposed job. Comparing a complete installed system against a bare vehicle price produces an attractive but misleading difference. Keep the original quotation currency; a translated article or converted marketing number is not a binding local offer.
Make the demonstration representative
Start the clock before the first working pass. Include unloading, setting boundaries, configuring the implement and creating the task. Observe turning, stoppages, intervention and return to work. Record whether these tasks are performed by your staff, an on-site engineer or a remote operator employed by the supplier. All three arrangements can be useful, but they produce different operating responsibilities.
Do not create improvised obstacle tests around moving machinery. The supplier should demonstrate safety responses under an approved procedure. Request an intervention log and measure the actual agricultural outcome: weed control, work quality, feed delivery or another agreed result. An uninterrupted video segment is useful evidence of one pass; it is not a complete record of the working shift.
Define service using the production calendar
Ask what “fast response” means. It may mean answering the telephone, beginning remote diagnosis, sending an engineer or restoring operation. Those are different commitments. A few lost days during a narrow weeding window can matter more than a longer stoppage outside the season. Dairy automation needs a fallback for a daily production process rather than an assumption that work can simply wait.
Separate response time, parts availability and replacement equipment or alternative service in the agreement. Clarify responsibility for software updates, communication failures and operating data. Ask how you retrieve field maps and work reports if a subscription ends. These questions concern continuity of the farm's work and deserve the same attention as vehicle specifications.
Europe contains very different farm structures
Eurostat counted about 1.2 million Polish farms in 2023, with 50.7% below five hectares. This does not support treating every farm as a potential buyer of a large autonomous platform. It also does not rule out robotics on small holdings: intensive vegetables, contracting and year-round livestock operations have different cost structures from a simple hectares-based classification. Choose references with a comparable production process. A successful installation on a large dairy farm does not establish payback for a vegetable grower. Access to capital may make the purchase possible; utilisation, outcomes and service determine whether it is useful. Regional comparisons should therefore separate financing capacity from the operating case for a particular machine.
What if your country is not listed?
An unconfirmed local partner is an evidence gap, not proof that supply is impossible. Ask the manufacturer to name the entity responsible for installation, warranty and service at your location. This is particularly important for specialist orchard machines, products initially deployed outside Europe and newly announced systems. A nearby demonstration farm does not necessarily provide commercial support.
Treat a preorder differently from an available production model. FarmDroid currently describes FD60 deliveries as starting in January 2027, while FD20 has an established product offer. The planned date should not be presented as a guaranteed delivery slot for an individual customer. Leave the first meeting with three things
The useful outputs are a comparable quotation, an agreed demonstration protocol and an identified service contact. Record unanswered questions explicitly.
