Sunseeker unveils five 2027 LiDAR mowers and Smart Garden
Sunseeker is using IFA 2026 to announce more than another robotic mower. The company unveiled five LiDAR-equipped 2027 products together with AllSense 3.0, MapOS with a semantic 3D map and a Smart Garden concept intended to connect mowers with rain gauges, soil sensors and future outdoor robots. The most useful commercial detail is concrete: the new range is scheduled to begin becoming available in February 2027.
Five LiDAR products, not one isolated launch
Sunseeker’s release describes five new 2027 LiDAR products. The higher-end S7 LiDAR Ultra AWD 3000 and S5 LiDAR Ultra Pro AWD 1800 use AllSense 3.0 and 360-degree LiDAR, while the S3 family uses solid-state LiDAR. Across the range, the company promises wire-free and antenna-free setup and positions the products for lawns from 500 to 3,000 square metres.
The S7 is aimed at the largest and most complex lawns. Sunseeker claims AWD operation on slopes up to 80%, or roughly 39 degrees. That figure needs to remain labelled as a manufacturer claim: it is not a result from a common RoboMorrow test course. Wet grass, cross-slopes, exposed roots and edge cases in perception can change real-world performance significantly.
Extension Hub: turning the mower into a platform
The S7’s Extension Hub may be the most strategically interesting hardware element. Sunseeker says it can support accessories including an EdgeZero trimmer head and a robotic arm. A robotic-arm roadmap is not the same as a shipping feature, however. The announcement does not yet provide the final arm specification, accessory pricing or a firm sales date, so RoboMorrow treats it as a platform direction rather than something buyers can rely on today.
EdgeZero is intended to reduce manual edge work and, according to Sunseeker, cut to 0 cm at suitable boundaries. That addresses one of the recurring weaknesses of autonomous mowing: users can automate the lawn and still need a string trimmer around walls and borders. Real value will depend on boundary type, safety logic, consumable wear and how reliably the system handles irregular edges.
Smart Garden and MapOS may matter more than another hardware spec
Smart Garden is designed to link robotic mowers, rain gauges, soil sensors planned for 2027 and future autonomous outdoor devices. Sunseeker says data from onboard vision, multimodal sensors and cloud AI models will create a live understanding of the garden and turn it into recommendations. In the company’s example, yellow grass could be interpreted as drought or pest stress and trigger a watering or pest-control recommendation.
MapOS adds a semantic 3D representation of the garden rather than a basic boundary map. Users are supposed to see meaningful landscape elements, fine-tune boundaries point by point, define no-go and safe zones and adjust mowing settings directly on the map. If it works reliably, this kind of contextual map could become more valuable than another headline increase in motor power or advertised perception range.
What is confirmed — and what is still missing
- Confirmed by Sunseeker: five 2027 LiDAR products, S7/S5/S3 families, Smart Garden, MapOS, a 500–3,000 m² range and availability beginning in February 2027.
- Manufacturer claims: up to 80% slope handling for S7, centimetre-level navigation, recognition of more than 360 obstacle types and the benefits of Smart Garden.
- Still missing: final EU/Poland prices, exact local SKUs, Extension Hub accessory pricing, cloud/subscription conditions and a delivery timeline for the robotic-arm capability.
- No RoboMorrow test: we are not assigning cleaning-style scores to mowing quality, mapping reliability or safety from a trade-show announcement.
Why it matters in Europe
The European wire-free mower market is moving quickly beyond simple RTK toward combinations of cameras, LiDAR and local perception. Sunseeker is trying to move one step further by making garden intelligence the product layer. For buyers, the important questions will be the actual S3/S5/S7 prices, local service and whether the Smart Garden features remain useful without expensive mandatory cloud subscriptions.
For now this is a strong candidate for our next best robot mowers update, but no model moves in our recommendations without confirmed availability and stronger evidence. We are also adding the announcement to the IFA 2026 Live Desk.

This is worth publishing because it combines a new product family, a specific availability month and a broader platform shift from a mower to a connected garden system. We will watch the S7 Extension Hub and MapOS most closely. Pricing and the actual delivery of Smart Garden functions will decide whether this becomes a practical ecosystem or mainly a compelling 2027 roadmap.
