Navimow H5 Pro is built around a problem robot-mower owners have known for years: a machine can mow beautiful parallel lanes in the middle of a lawn yet still leave a border beside a wall, bed or soft edge that needs a handheld trimmer. H5 Pro targets that with the integrated EdgeMaestro arm, which extends the cutting system by 7.7 cm.

EdgeMaestro: 7.7 cm designed to remove the string trimmer from the workflow

The arm extends the cutting system by 7.7 cm. Navimow says it can work against hard borders, flower beds and irregular boundaries without leaving a gap. The arm floats in multiple directions to follow vertical bumps and can deflect after contacting side obstacles such as garden lights rather than simply jamming.

Importantly, this is not a separate string line or tiny auxiliary cutter. Navimow says EdgeMaestro uses the same cutting disc as the main lawn. A Rake Module pulls border grass toward the blade while dual guide wheels reduce friction along the edge.

“Zero edge” needs testing on several border types

Zero-edge is easy to demonstrate on flat paving level with the lawn. It is harder beside a vertical wall, soft flower bed, protruding stone or light fixture. An independent test should therefore use multiple border geometries and measure the actual uncut strip.

EdgeSense 2.0 is designed to select different strategies for hard, soft and complex boundaries. If it works consistently, H5 Pro could remove one of the last reasons a premium robot-mower owner still uses a handheld trimmer every week.

PanoGuard and stopping the arm around people or animals

During edge work the disc is closer to objects outside the lawn, making safety more important than in the centre. Navimow describes PanoGuard 360° living-object detection that stops EdgeMaestro immediately when people or animals are detected.

This needs repeated testing rather than one staged demonstration. Useful scenarios include a foot, paw, toy, soft object and small item placed directly on the boundary.

Xero-Turn AWD: 80% without traditional shafts

H5 Pro uses four independent hub motors. This removes a conventional drive shaft and mechanical differential and allows more precise torque control at each wheel. Navimow rates the mower to 80% / 38.6° slopes.

Rear suspension is designed to keep tyres in contact with uneven ground and the mower is rated for obstacles up to 6 cm. As always, a maximum manufacturer figure does not guarantee the same performance on wet grass, gravel, roots and a steep slope simultaneously.

EFLS Tri-fusion: LiDAR + Vision + NRTK

The localisation system combines three technologies dynamically. NRTK helps in open areas, LiDAR supplies geometry and cameras understand the scene. Navimow says software chooses the best strategy for changing conditions.

This resembles the direction MAMMOTION is taking with Tri-Fusion. The product difference will come from map quality, intervention frequency and behaviour when one positioning source degrades — not from simply listing three sensor types.

Thermal sensing and hedgehogs: useful, but not permission for night mowing

VisionFence 360° combines triple AI cameras and LiDAR with thermal infrared. It is intended to identify small animals in poor light, stop the blades and reroute. Navimow specifically highlights hedgehogs, whose defensive behaviour often involves curling up rather than running away.

The company has started a one-year collaboration with German rescue organisation Igelhilfe Schulzendorf e.V. including controlled testing and education. RoboMorrow still recommends avoiding night mowing in wildlife-active gardens. Thermal sensing is an extra safety layer, not a guarantee that risk has disappeared.

58 dB(A) at the edge

Navimow quotes noise from 58 dB(A) during edge mowing. That is low for a machine operating close to patios or a house. Real noise also depends on grass type, blade speed and contact with dry leaves or hard objects.

Availability and price

The official Navimow DE IFA page states “available from early 2027”. Pricing has not been announced. RoboMorrow did not verify an exact H5 Pro listing on Amazon.com or Amazon.pl, so this profile remains affiliate-neutral.

Who appears to be the best fit?

  • gardens with many borders, walls and flower beds;
  • owners most frustrated by manual edge trimming;
  • difficult terrain that benefits from AWD;
  • properties with trees and buildings where LiDAR + Vision + NRTK redundancy may help;
  • buyers who place strong emphasis on small-animal detection.

What an independent test must verify

  1. the actual uncut strip beside walls, paving, beds and soft edges;
  2. whether EdgeMaestro catches on lights, roots or protruding objects;
  3. small-animal detection in daylight, shade and low light;
  4. human interventions between zones;
  5. real mowing throughput and recharge behaviour;
  6. the effect of Xero-Turn on turf after repeated turns.

RoboMorrow verdict

H5 Pro is interesting not because another product uses “AI”, but because it combines three specific issues: edges, traction and small-animal safety. EdgeMaestro may have more day-to-day value than another increase in maximum lawn area. Thermal perception is also a sensible additional sensing layer. Until price, full area rating and real-world EdgeMaestro results are known, H5 Pro remains a highly promising 2027 launch rather than a finished buying recommendation.
