Robot vacuum map overlaps rooms: checks before resetting
A shifted robot map does not always require remapping. If the walls are correct but room names or divisions are wrong, start with room editing. If rooms overlap, the robot appears beyond a wall or it cannot recognise its dock, investigate localisation and the saved map. A factory reset should not be the opening troubleshooting step.

Different problems can look like a bad map

Roborock documents room editing, multi-floor maps and incorrect map angles separately. These functions are not interchangeable. Older support instructions refer to specific models and app layouts; check the current device documentation before following a sequence of buttons.
Preserve the settings before changing them
Capture the current map, schedules, no-go zones and room names. Record when the problem started: after moving the dock, making a new map, changing floors or without an obvious trigger. If the app offers saved map versions or a backup, identify a known-good date before choosing restoration.
A screenshot records settings but cannot itself restore a map. After deleting a map, do not assume that exclusions and room tasks will return automatically. This matters especially where boundaries protect areas the machine should not enter.
Check the reference point: the dock
Roborock’s map-angle support article includes dock placement among the checks. Use the clearances in your own dock’s manual: a large washing station may have different requirements from a compact charging base. Check that the dock is stable, has not moved during cleaning and has the required approach space.
Do not reposition it repeatedly within the same trial. Clean accessible navigation components as directed and remove temporary obstructions that prevent docking. If the displayed map belongs to another level, select the correct saved map using the model’s multi-floor procedure first.
Choose the smallest relevant correction

Accept the new map before resuming schedules
If remapping is necessary, create ordinary working conditions with access to the intended rooms and a stable dock. Follow the model’s mapping procedure. After saving, inspect boundaries, excluded areas and room assignments before resuming unattended schedules.
Run a short task to a selected room and check the return. A plausible drawing alone does not prove that the robot recognises its position and route. If the geometry becomes distorted again, a report containing before-and-after captures is more useful than another reset that discards the evidence.
