Robot vacuums 2026: complete buying guide
Cleaning robots in 2026 will differ not only in suction power. The biggest differences concern the method of mopping, the quality of avoiding obstacles, driving over thresholds, carpet protection and how much work the station actually takes over. Therefore, the choice should start with the apartment, and not with the ranking of numbers.
60-second decision map: start with the biggest problem in your home. Hard floors and frequent stains point to mop architecture; carpets to wet-mop protection; high thresholds to chassis geometry; pet hair to brush and emptying-channel design; low-maintenance ownership to what the dock truly automates. Compare suction numbers and promotions only after that.
| Main problem | Most important feature | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Wet/greasy stains | mop architecture and rinsing | roller vs rotating pads |
| Many carpets | mop lift/retraction + brush design | verify behaviour on your own pile height |
| Thresholds + low furniture | chassis geometry + robot height | measure the obstacle, not only the headline maximum |
| Minimum maintenance | emptying, washing, drying and water handling | compare dock functions |
Once your requirements are clear, use the ranking by use case or browse the verified RoboMorrow Robot Database.
Count surface types first
Write down the square footage of hard floors, the number of carpets, the height of their pile, the width of the narrowest passages and the height of thresholds. A robot great in an open living room may have difficulty in an apartment with chairs, cables and several levels.
Suction power: important but not comparable one to one
Manufacturers provide values from 10,000 to over 30,000 Pa, but they use their own measurement methods. The final result depends on the main brush, channel seal, carpet pass and algorithm. The Pa number alone should not determine your purchase.
Three main mopping systems
Two rotating disks
Popular, effective when wiped regularly and relatively simple. Their disadvantage is that the dirt remains on the pad until the next washing at the station.
Vibrating Mop
Works well for everyday floor maintenance and can be easily lifted over carpet.
Roller rinsed during operation
HydroJet, FlowWash, OZMO Roller, HydroForce and RevoRoll solutions constantly refresh the mop surface and remove dirty water. They may be better at dealing with greasy marks, but are more complex and require attention to water channels.
Navigation & Privacy
LiDAR maps space well even in the dark. The cameras help recognize cables, socks and pet feces, but require conscious review of privacy and image processing settings. More and more often, the robot combines several sensors.
Thresholds and low furniture
Do not assume that the declaration of 40, 60 or 80 mm means every threshold of this height. Manufacturers often describe a two-step obstacle. Measure the edge and check the approach angle. The height of the robot is equally important; the lowered radar can allow you to drive under furniture, but some navigation functions then work differently.
Station: seven functions worth separating
- dust emptying
- refilling clean water
- dirty water collection
- mop washing
- mop drying
- detergent dosing
- self-cleaning of station base
The lack of one of these functions does not invalidate the robot. What is more important is whether the solution fits the rhythm of the house and whether consumable parts are available.

Post-purchase costs
Include bags, filters, brushes, rollers, pads, fluid and possible service. The bagless station reduces the purchase of bags, but requires cyclone cleaning. Station with water connection saves carrying tanks, but requires installation.
Verdict
The best cleaning robot is not the one with the highest Pa number, but a model that regularly completes the cycle in your home, does not wet carpets, does not get stuck on thresholds and does not require daily rescue. First choose the technology, then the model and only finally the promotion.

How to match the robot to a specific home
Small apartment up to 60 m²
In a small apartment, the biggest problem is not the battery, but the number of obstacles and space for the station. The robot should be able to cope well between chairs, under tables and around skirting boards. An expanded station may take up a disproportionate amount of space, so it is worth checking its full dimensions along with the space needed to remove the tanks.
House 100–200 m²
On a larger surface, the importance of returning to work after charging, tank capacity and a stable map of many rooms increases. The mop washing and dust emptying station is a real time saver. With several floors, you still need to move the robot unless you buy a second unit.
Animal House
Suction power alone does not solve the hair problem. Check the design of the main brush, access to its ends, frequency of filter replacement and patency of the emptying channel. For long hair, DuoDivide, DuoBrush and other solutions that reduce curling are important. A fecal detection camera is valuable, but should not replace a pre-installation home inspection.
House with lots of carpets
The robot must detect the carpet, increase suction and protect it from the wet mop. Some models raise the pads, others hide the roller or create a mechanical cover. With thick fleece, even 12–15 mm of lifting may be insufficient; then the mode of avoiding carpets while mopping is better.
Is the camera in the robot safe?
The camera recognizes small objects and can provide an overview of your home. This is practical, but before turning on the video function, check whether the image is processed locally, what data goes to the cloud and how it can be deleted. Change your account's default password, enable multi-factor authentication if the manufacturer offers it, and keep your software updated. If you don't need remote viewing, leave it disabled.
Plan for the first seven days after purchase
- Set up station and perform mapping without mopping.
- Correct room names, doors and forbidden zones.
- Run the vacuum in good lighting and observe the thresholds.
- Add carpets and rules for lifting or bypassing the mop.
- Perform the first mopping cycle with a small amount of water.
- Check station tray, roller, filter and tank when finished.
- Only then set the automatic schedule.
The most common mistakes when choosing
- purchasing by maximum suction power only;
- no measurement of thresholds and clearance under furniture;
- assume that the station does not need cleaning;
- ignoring the cost of bags, filters and fluid;
- no service and parts check in Poland;
- select camera without checking privacy settings;
- expects that the robot will replace periodic manual cleaning one hundred percent.
How long can the robot run without being operated?
The Marketing term "hands-off" usually means a few days or weeks between simple tasks, not a complete lack of work. In a home with pets, it is worth checking the brush, sensors and front wheel every few days. It is best to empty the dirty water tank quickly, even if it is not full. Every few weeks you need to wash the tray, station filter and places where sediment accumulates.
