Verified 3 September 2026. PUDU GT3 is a commercial robotic mower aimed not at household lawns but at business campuses, hospitals, schools and mixed commercial sites where turf is broken up by paths and hard surfaces. This profile uses PUDU's current product page and the official GT Series launch. RoboMorrow has not physically tested GT3, so runtime, area and autonomy figures remain manufacturer specifications.

Short answer

GT3 is the smallest PUDU GT platform and the model whose role extends most clearly beyond mowing. It uses a 36-inch / 914.4 mm cutting unit, weighs 450 kg with batteries, carries a 13 kWh pack and is rated by PUDU for 4–5 hours of runtime and up to 20,000 m² per full charge. It can cut, vacuum and collect clippings and light debris, while disabling the blades turns it into a walkway sweeper.

What makes GT3 different?

The key feature is not maximum acreage. GT3 combines mowing with vacuum collection of clippings, fallen leaves and light turf debris. PUDU also describes dual edge brushes that sweep material toward the intake. With blades disabled, the machine can work as a walkway sweeper. For facilities teams, that may reduce equipment changes between turf care and light hard-surface cleaning.

PUDU also describes automatic dumping of a full hopper at a configured point and task resumption from the previous breakpoint. A real pilot should verify which deployment configuration enables auto-dump, what infrastructure the emptying point needs and how much operator involvement remains.

Mapping, cross-zone transit and obstacles

GT3 is designed to build a map after an autonomous perimeter lap, recognise transitions between turf and paved surfaces and let operators edit no-go zones and transit routes. PUDU also claims autonomous movement between mapped areas followed by task resumption.

The perception system is intended to identify pedestrians, vehicles and site objects such as hoses and light poles, then slow, bypass or stop according to risk. That is the manufacturer's description of the safety architecture, not a guarantee of collision-free operation in every public environment. Schools, hospitals and mixed commercial sites still need operating rules and an escalation plan.

Best-fit sites

  • business campuses with multiple smaller lawn areas;
  • hospitals, schools and public sites with paths separating turf zones;
  • facility-management contracts where mowing and light sweeping are currently separate workflows;
  • sites where a 1.5–1.6 m professional mower would be operationally too large.

GT3 vs GT5 vs GT7

GT3 is not simply a cheaper GT5. GT5 is a 60-inch high-throughput mower that PUDU rates around 8,000 m²/h. GT7 uses three reel units for golf courses and professional sports turf where cut consistency and pattern control matter more than general-purpose sweeping. Price and European availability

PUDU does not currently publish a public list price for GT3. The official page routes buyers to “Request a Demo”. PUDU says the GT family will make its global debut at GaLaBau 2026 in Nuremberg, 15–18 September, at indoor stand 9-214 and outdoor demonstration area Pf10. That is a meaningful European signal, but it does not yet equal confirmed Polish pricing, delivery dates or SLA terms.

What to verify in a pilot

  • autonomous hours between interventions;
  • hopper-emptying time and logistics;
  • turf-to-pavement boundary recognition;
  • wet-grass and leaf performance;
  • service, parts, battery and 6 kW charging requirements;
  • full deployment TCO rather than hardware price alone.

GT3 is not simply a larger consumer mower

At 450 kg, almost 1.6 m long and close to one metre wide, GT3 should be planned like professional grounds equipment. That means checking gates, transit surfaces, turning space, parking/charging location and transport between sites. Autonomous cross-zone transit does not solve a deployment if two mapped lawns are separated by a public road, locked gate or a route where the robot is not permitted to travel.

This is also the economic difference from a household mower. A homeowner may tolerate an occasional manual rescue. On a facility-management contract, every rescue has a labour cost. The key GT3 KPI should therefore be autonomous hours between interventions, not only the area PUDU rates per full charge.

Auto-dump could make or break the ROI

Automatic emptying may be one of GT3's most valuable features because collection without self-emptying simply transfers labour from the mower operator to the hopper operator. A pilot should watch the complete cycle: full-bin detection, travel to the dump point, emptying, return to the previous zone and task resumption.

RoboMorrow would only count that workflow as truly autonomous if it does not require a person to position the robot, open the hopper or clear the system after each cycle. PUDU describes auto-dump and task resumption, but the infrastructure required by a specific deployment should be confirmed during a demonstration.

Safety on public sites

IP66, an emergency stop, blade interlocks and lift/tilt braking provide a strong baseline, but schools, hospitals and campuses also need operating procedures. Buyers should establish minimum working distances from people, behaviour when a child or dog enters the route, remote-stop capability, event logging and the reset process after an alarm. These are not GT3-specific criticisms; they are normal questions for a 450 kg autonomous machine carrying active cutting hardware.

RoboMorrow verdict

GT3 is more interesting as an integrated grounds-care robot than as a conventional robotic mower. If it genuinely removes separate mowing, collection and sweeping passes on fragmented sites, the business case could be strong. The biggest unknowns remain price, European service and real operator-intervention frequency.
