PUDU GT7: reel mower, ±2.5 cm RTK and up to 70,000 m²

Verified 3 September 2026. PUDU GT7 is the most specialised GT model: a 62-inch robotic triplex reel mower for golf courses, professional sports fields and other turf where repeatable height of cut and mowing pattern matter as much as acreage. RoboMorrow has not tested GT7; ±2.5 cm RTK, 8,000 m²/h, 70,000 m² per charge and other figures remain PUDU claims.

Short answer

GT7 has a 1600 mm / 62-inch working width, three independently floating reel units, a 5–50 mm height-of-cut range and 8- or 11-blade reel configurations. It weighs 950 kg, carries a 26 kWh battery, uses 4WD, is rated for mowing slopes up to 30° and 8–10 hours of runtime. PUDU lists up to 70,000 m² per charge in the relevant mode and about 8,000 m²/h.

Reel mowing: cut quality is the product

GT7 is not only about width. Three independently floating reel units are designed to follow ground contours and maintain consistent HOC across undulating turf. Operators can configure cutting angle, directional rotation and lane offset to reproduce professional patterns.

That is a different problem from maintaining a park. Professional turf cares about leaf-edge quality, consistency, surface protection, wheel marks and the ability to reproduce the same pattern. Without an independent RoboMorrow field test, we cannot confirm that GT7 matches the best human-operated reel mowers. We can confirm that its architecture and specifications are explicitly aimed at that market.

RTK + LiDAR + vision

GT7 combines RTK, LiDAR and camera systems. PUDU quotes RTK positioning accuracy up to ±2.5 cm under supported conditions and uses positioning for repeatable striping and trajectory control. Perception also includes surround RGB, RGBD, ultrasonic sensors and LiDAR, with stop/wait/bypass behaviour for turf boundaries, pedestrians and vehicles.

Golf courses and stadiums will expose the more important question: what happens when RTK is degraded by trees, stands or infrastructure? LiDAR and vision provide a useful sensor-fusion signal, but only a real test can show how localisation sources are blended and whether mowing patterns remain stable.

Collection vs non-collection

GT7 supports standard mowing or active collection. PUDU describes a dual-fan vacuum, bin-full detection and automatic task resumption after emptying. The maximum 70,000 m² per-charge figure is stated for non-collection mode, so it should not be applied automatically to intensive clipping collection.

Price and European launch

GT7 has no public MSRP. The official page routes users to “Request a Demo”. The GT family's first global public showing is scheduled for GaLaBau 2026 in Nuremberg, 15–18 September — a logical venue for professional turf equipment. Public price, European delivery timing, named customers and detailed service terms remain unknown.

How to evaluate a GT7 pilot

On sports or golf turf, “hectares per hour” is not enough. KPIs should include actual HOC deviation, striping consistency, turf damage, wheel marks, operator interventions, setup/change time, performance near trees/stands and reel sharpening/service cost. Only that kind of pilot can show whether the robot replaces a professional mower pass or only one part of the workflow.

Automating a reel mower has different economics from ordinary mowing

On a golf course or professional sports pitch, mowing is part of surface preparation rather than simply removing excess grass. Operators manage HOC, travel direction, striping pattern, reel condition, ground conditions and turf response. GT7 should therefore be benchmarked against the complete professional turf-management process, not against a household robot or only a driver's hourly wage.

The automation opportunity is still significant. If a machine repeats routes and settings more consistently, greenkeeping staff can move time from driving toward quality control, agronomy and exception handling. That is a business hypothesis to test, not a financial outcome claimed by PUDU.

What happens when RTK quality degrades?

Combining RTK, LiDAR and vision is logical on professional sites because a single positioning source can become weaker near trees, stands or tall infrastructure. A sensor list does not explain the transition logic. A serious pilot should deliberately take GT7 through partially obstructed areas and observe whether it slows, stops, changes localisation source and, most importantly, whether it returns to the intended line and pattern.

On a professional pitch, centimetres of error can become visible across a stripe. The ±2.5 cm figure should therefore be treated as PUDU's RTK specification under stated conditions, not a guarantee of identical accuracy everywhere on a site.

Reel maintenance belongs in the TCO

Robotics does not eliminate mechanical care of the reel units. The cost model should include inspection, adjustment, sharpening/backlapping or component replacement according to supplier procedures, parts, service travel and machine downtime. On a platform expected to operate 8–10 hours per day, a small difference in technical availability can matter more than a few percent of theoretical mowing rate.

Collection and non-collection operation should also be separated. PUDU's maximum area-per-charge headline is tied to non-collection mode, so a club or stadium collecting clippings continuously should establish its own energy and emptying-cycle baseline.

Low-noise operation can be a business feature

PUDU describes GT7 as a low-noise electric mower. Without an independently verified measurement, RoboMorrow will not assign a dB figure, but an electric platform can potentially open additional operating windows near hotels, clubs, schools and training sites. A pilot should test whether local rules and actual sound levels allow earlier or later mowing than current equipment. Extra usable hours can be as valuable as autonomy itself.

RoboMorrow verdict

GT7 is the most technologically interesting GT model because “it cut the grass autonomously” is not sufficient in its target market. It has to deliver the surface quality, pattern and repeatability expected in professional turf management. If PUDU proves that in real European deployments, it will be a stronger signal than the 70,000 m² headline alone.
